Question and Answer:
- Tell us about yourself?
I go to St. Louis Park High School, where I plan on doing part-time PSEO at the U of M, for my senior year. I enjoy working with and building technology, and my favorite class is my engineering elective. I have participated in drone racing, soccer, tennis, ultimate frisbee, and an Architecture, Construction, and Engineering club, as well as an explorer program at Medtronic. I started working as an Intern at IDS at the beginning of June. I have worked on many different projects, from testing the optimal use cases for the different laser scanners and capturing imagery above ceiling tiles, to helping develop an AI machine learning model, to detect cracks on walls in images. I have also visited sites and helped capture imagery and data on buildings, for clients. - What makes you most excited about working at IDS?
They have really nice cutting edge equipment and technology. I get to work with powerful drones, cameras, and laser scanners to help create some awesome products. In addition this opportunity is giving me good experience working in an office setting. - If you had a super power what would it be?
I think shape shifting would be super cool. - You Race Drones? Tell us more?
Yes, I race drones for my drone racing team, at St. Louis Park High School. It is super fun! We build and fly small drones called tiny whoops, which are small and light so they can maneuver through small gates and obstacles. We race against other Minnesota high school's teams in gyms and cafeterias, using goggles to see what the drone sees, and a controller to fly them. When schools closed, we switched to flying against each other in an online simulator. Because of this, we were one of the only after school activities that could continue, and our state tournament ended up getting featured on Fox Sports North, where I took 3rd in individuals, and got 1st place in the team race.
